Paris... Round 2...

So it has officially been 2 weeks since I have been back in Paris, and as to be expected it has been full of highs and lows. I can only describe my relationship with this city as very much love/hate, but that being said I still can't imagine any place I would rather be.

Upon arriving back into the city I noticed very quickly that someone up there has definitely flicked the switch. The days of summer are long gone and those that have replaced them are a whole lot greyer and shorter. While I am not a huge fan of the cold, I do love getting rugged back up again in those cute warm winter clothes. Working hasn't been as pleasant, when out on tour, the freezing cold win and ice rain can prove to be a little more of a challenge. Aside from the cold, it has been nice to catch up with friends. As much as I love spending time in Bordeaux, it can feel a little lonely and isolating as my French still seems to be at toddler level. So coming back to Paris, getting warm greetings and hugs from my friends at work and seeing other familiar faces is wonderfully comforting.

On the other hand it has truly been a challenge as I have been somewhat homeless. When I moved out of my apartment near Luxembourg Gardens before I went away, I lulled myself into the false illusion that it would be easier for me to look for a new place to stay when I returned from Bordeaux. Nothing could be further from the truth as September it seems apartments (particularly the cheap ones I am after) all get snapped up very quickly by the students returning for the new school year and if you are not rich with a French guarantor almost impossible to secure one for a foreigner like myself. So I have been shuffling myself between generous friends, offering beds & or floors and it has given me a whole new found appreciation for having a roof over my head. I even look at the homeless people on the streets and the metro differently, feeling their pain that they have no home to go to, but thankful I haven't had to resort to a cardboard box just yet. As I expected a few days after I returned to Paris, the universe came through for me and as of next week I will have a home for 2 months. So you can all breathe out a sigh of relief!

I have so much I want to write about as the last 2 weeks have really been jam packed, but I have just looked at the time and realised I need to get by butt moving. I have a flight to Poland tonight to see my Paris summer bestie and in typical me style I have yet to pack and have to leave in 15min,

I will be back next week to fill you in on more adventures and if things go to plan, will hopefully have some exciting news for you.... :)

Bon Baiser de Paris
