My new love affair. Macarons.

I am going to keep this blog post short and sweet (emphasis on the sweet).

It's nothing deep and or meaningful this week either, rather a short ode to my new love.

One thing about living in Melbourne, is that people love to come visit.

As someone who grew up interstate I can completely see the appeal, so I love having visitors. There is definitely something special about this city and after this last weekend, I am starting to think it could be something to do with the food.

My brother came over for work last week and decided to stay on for the weekend with me and hang out. As he has been here many times before, there was no need to do the tourist attractions, instead settling for almost a food and coffee tour of Melbourne. We hit my fave coffee spots, The Corner Store in Richmond and St Ali in South Melbourne and dined in a couple of the many Asian restaurants that Richmond has to offer. As we were strolling down Bridge Rd this one wet Saturday afternoon, we noticed there was a macaroon stall out the front of Thomas Dux. Now I have never really been big into macarons, not because I don't like them, but more because I haven't given them a chance (which when you think about it, is quite ironic considering my love affair with France). My brother on the other hand, quite the foody, insisted we stop and try some samples.

This is where everything went horribly wrong (or right depending on which way you look at it).

I'm not sure why, but suddenly they were the best thing I have ever tasted and now I can't seem to get enough of them!

So as a result, I now seem to have a constant craving for macaroons and know of at least 3 shops all within a 1km radius of my house that sell them.

Is it just me or are macarons possibly the best cookie/cake/dessert ever?!

Sigh.....

If only I had one or five now.
